VCAS for DVB - Unified Content Security for Hybrid Networks
A key cost component in both broadcast and IPTV offerings is the content protection system. To make these exciting hybrid offerings a commercial reality a key optimization is to be able to use a unified protection system for content delivered through both elements of the network. The Verimatrix solution provides this essential support by unifying the content security domains for broadcast and broadband.
Verimatrix uses the two-way IP communications channels to shift the relationship for real-time key management and entitlement management towards the head-end where size and integrity of secure storage is less of an issue than on an STB client device. This shift greatly expands the scope for fine grain management of services and content rights while providing the basis for a number of advanced tools to combat piracy and theft of service.
